Family Note

Wrap each musubi while the rice is still warm so it holds together nicely.

Ingredients

  • 1 can Spam, sliced into 8 pieces
  • 4 cups cooked white rice
  • 4 sheets nori, cut in half
  • 2 tablespoons shoyu
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1 tablespoon mirin or water
  • Furikake, optional

Directions

  1. Pan fry Spam slices until browned on both sides.
  2. Stir shoyu, sugar, and mirin together, then pour over the Spam.
  3. Cook until the sauce lightly coats each slice.
  4. Press warm rice into a musubi mold or shape it by hand.
  5. Add furikake if using, top with Spam, and wrap with nori.
