Family Note
Good for weeknights because the sauce does most of the work. Serve with rice and cucumber.
Ingredients
- 3 pounds chicken thighs
- 1 cup shoyu
- 1 cup water
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 4 cloves garlic, crushed
- 1 thumb ginger, sliced
- 2 green onions, chopped
Directions
- Place shoyu, water, brown sugar, garlic, and ginger in a large pot.
- Add chicken and bring to a gentle simmer.
- Cover and cook for about 35 minutes, turning chicken halfway through.
- Uncover and simmer 10 more minutes so the sauce lightly thickens.
- Top with green onions and serve with hot rice.
